Yippie Tyee!
Our guests arrived on the 13th of June for the inaugural fishing trip of
Peregrine’s 30th anniversary season.
With a knowledgeable crew waiting in the wings, we set out with some keen
anglers and fishing enthusiasts as our guests began their fishing trip with
an enthusiasm that was undeniably contagious.
The sun and weather seemed to agree. The days on the epic fishing grounds
around Cape Naden have been warm and pleasant.
The guests and guides got busy and the first tyee was caught by Mary on
Day 2, guided by a veteran guide Dave Jackson.
He said, “I told my wife I was going to boat a birthday Tyee, and here it
is.”
Happy birthday to Dave and great job finding the 30 pounder around Bird Rock!
“It was bigger than I thought it would be after I reeled it to the
surface”, Mary said, “I hope to get another one tomorrow.”
The Wilsons and the Blakes celebrated their anniversary at the lodge and
were treated to gourmet cuisine and desserts made by our amazing chefs.
On Day 2 and 3 humpback whales were spotted feeding at Parker Point and
Cape Naden. The whales seemed to enjoy the calm morning and afternoon
waters along with the successful anglers. The fleet’s downriggers trolled the
coast and brought in more Spring, Chinook, Cod, and Halibut.
The north-westerly winds didn’t disappoint, and as usual, Hugh was
brimming with confidence when his guide Mikey brought him to where he would
eventually catch the biggest Tyee of the trip….a 40 pound Spring Salmon
on the fourth day. Day 4 was also a memorable one for someone else…a
young Chris who challenged Hugh with a 34 pound Spring!

eventually catch the biggest Tyee of the trip….a 44 pound Spring Salmon
on the fourth day. Day 4 was also a memorable one for young Chris who challenged Hugh with a 34 pound Spring!
Finally, a group from Boston got to check ‘*epic fishing adventure*’ off their
bucket list with their trip to Peregrine lodge in Haida Gwaii and the best Salmon fishing on the
west coast of BC.
