Why Haida Gwaii?

Situated just off the coast of northern BC, Haida Gwaii is the ultimate destination for saltwater and freshwater fishing. Haida Gwaii is unique for the large amount of salmon that populate its waters.

Peregrine Lodge is home to five types of salmon species:

  • Pink
  • Coho
  • Chinook (King)
  • Sockeye
  • Chum

Haida Gwaii’s waters are also filled with record-sized halibut, Ling cod, Rock cod, and Sea bass. In addition to the fishing, Haida Gwaii is also a region rich in culture. Local Haida have an exuberant history, one with skilled artistry emphasizing traditional carvery and weaving.

At Peregrine Lodge, we are happy to offer both salt and freshwater fishing.  Due to the diversity of our fishing experience, guests will be given the opportunity to engage with and learn different techniques to successfully catch their target fish species.

Fishing License

Before you come to Peregrine Lodge, please ensure that you are registered for and have printed your fishing license and salmon conservation stamp. The Government of Canada has enforced regulations for sports fishing in the Pacific Ocean.

You can purchase your fishing license online, print it and bring it with you to Peregrine Lodge. You are required by law to have your license while fishing and when you are transporting your catch home, so it is imperative that you have it with you at all times.

A Typical Day at The Lodge

A day at Peregrine Lodge starts with a gourmet 30 item buffet-style breakfast prepared by our world-class chefs and resident baker. Guests can pick up their personalized, hand-made lunches and snacks to enjoy while on the water before they head down to the docks.

After you’ve prepared for your day on the water, you will meet your carefully selected guide dockside. Your professional guide will ensure that you catch the trophy fish of your dreams and ensure that your 10 hour fishing adventure is an adventure of a lifetime.

After a days’ worth of fishing comes to an end, celebrate your catch at the dock for weigh-in celebrations. As fish weights tip the scale, enjoy complimentary appetizers and top-shelf spirits while sharing the excitement with fellow guests.

The start of happy hour at 6:30pm is where guests can enjoy a hot and cold appetizer buffet. Enjoy one of our signature drinks around the fire place and join others as fish tales are shared. At 7:30pm dinner is served and is followed by the grand catch of the day coveted awards presentation.
