Here at Peregrine Lodge we have just completed our most stellar trip of the season, with Tyee after Tyee being caught by the majority of our visiting anglers. The first day of the trip, Monday, was our season record setting day with 10 Tyees reeled in by our guests! With weights coming in at 50, 47, 45, 42, 39, 37, 33, 30, 30, and 30! The celebration festivities that evening were enjoyed by all, with thunderous clapping and cheering as so many hats, pins, and awards were given out that even some staff members claimed their hands ached from clapping so much

The honours of biggest fish of the day, and in fact the trip, went to Doug True, who caught and released his stunning 50 pound hippopotamus on the West side of Bird Rock. Fishing with Brian as his guide, it was a remarkable fight that will be the subject of True family dinner conversations for generations to come. Second place, which at 47 pounds would rarely not be the biggest fish of the day, was caught by Larry Meyne Sr. However, what made this catch truly amazing was that it was the first salmon that Larry had ever caught in his life! Under the guidance of Ryan, he was fishing Bird Rock as well, which was truly the hot spot of the day. Continuing down the list, it was Allen smith who was able to bring in a stellar 45 pound hog, while Chet Brauch landed a 42-pounder. With so many more fish in the mid to high 30’s, it was just a phenomenal day

Remarkably, the fishing barely slowed down over the final two days, as big fish continued to come in at an almost alarming pace. Putting aside thoughts of his recent engagement, Johnny Williams was able to help Mike Nash land a weighty 42-pounder off of Cape Naden on the second day, while Both Mark Garagan and Ralf Sommer were able to bring in Tyees after a couple fantastic fights on the final morning!

There is nothing we can say to those departing guests except we hope you had a spectacular time here with us . A very remarkable trip that will last a lifetime for all of us.
