Chinook
The Chinook salmon is BC sport fishing’s crown jewel. They have a high oil content, making them one of the best tasting salmons. They are large in size and are also known as King or Spring salmon.
Coho
Known for being one of the most prized BC salmon species due to its delicious rich meat. Coho are known for their aggressive and moody behavior that provides a great challenge for anglers. They can weight between 6 to 14 pounds but can reach up to 25 pounds.
Pink
The smallest of the BC salmon species. Their large runs provide consistent sport fishery for anglers. Pink salmon are the easiest to catch out of all the BC salmon despite being an aggressive fish. Pink salmon also provide outstanding fly-fishing opportunities for anglers.
Sockeye
Sockeye salmon can weigh up to 15 pounds and during the spawning process, they are primarily red in colour. They are also known as Red salmon, Kokanee salmon or Blueback salmon.
Chum
Chum salmon are silvery blue-green in colour with a paler belly and spotting in a darker shade. They change to a dark olive green colour when they move into fresh water.
