Fishing Report August 2-August 6, 2023
Yet another fantastic week here in Haida Gwaii! Apart from a little bit of fog the weather was outstanding throughout the whole trip. These blue bird days out on the water never fail to put smiles on our faces. It also doesn’t hurt that Hogust has been living up to its name! This month has been very good to us so far and we cant wait to see whats in store for the rest of it.
We had lots of great fish hit our docks each day including a 60lbs halibut!! With the current limits on the length of these fish it really doesn’t get any bigger than that! We also had our fair share of chinook over 20lbs and lots of cohos in between 8-10lbs. Those 20lbs chinooks are truly a blast to reel in and the cohos always put up a great fight. To top it all off we had two tyees that tied for the biggest fish of the week!
We are only two trips into Hogust and things are already looking good. The sun has been shinning, the guests have been smiling and the fish have been biting! All together the vibes are immaculate around the lodge and if this trend continues, it will only get better from here on out!
